Spring 2011 Fashion Trends (part 2)
By: Dalton Primeaux
This spring, its all about prints and patterns. From floral to animal – prints are in! Compared to the quiet, military-inspired style we saw rule last fall, this spring, your outfits need to be a little busier than usual.
Almost all designers are jumping on the busy-pattern look. One of the fashion lines leading the way in this trend was Etro, which revealed a lot of complex, almost Grecian, patterns. Etro spiced things up with some intricate snake skin patterns similar to Marc Jacobs (purse and sandals), YSL (python wedges), and Roberto Cavalli (purse and jacket). Combining prints may seem intimidating, but be bold. Mixing the right prints and textures can make an outfit exciting.
Another great animal inspired option is the leopard and leather Georgette dress by Burberry Prorsum (Great when paired with Burberry Prorsum’s studded leather jacket). That look is definitely very punk rock, which is also a fun way to use patterns! Studs will always be a great option for a more edgy look. Or, you can use one of Jeremy Scott’s awesome tops: The “Trash” mesh nylon top, or the shopping bag shirt - either one would be a great way to get an alternative look but still represent your prints.
