We are on the hunt for witty, irreverent, and hyper modern writers for New Orleans’ indie online magazine. We love content that is clever, creative, or encourages the reader to think.

Ways to contribute

• Single Blog posts (Usually 150 - 500 words)
• Articles for InvadeNOLA books (500 - 3000 words)
• Weekly/Bi-Weekly Blog Contributor

What we want

• Great writing! Send it to us in good shape to begin with, so we can make it even better.
• Web writing! Use lists, subheadings, and quotes to break up text. Keep paragraphs short — not too short, but short enough to be digestible on the screen. Use active voice and simple language.
• Interesting articles! Give our readers something that will make them feel strongly: make them laugh, make them cry, or make them say, “Oh, thats awesome!”
• Added Value! We love videos, photo stories, and audio posts.

InvadeNOLA is

• curated music - especially under the radar
• event recaps / party pics
• promotion of awesome projects in new orleans
• promotion of awesome young professionals
• food porn / local restaurant reviews / recipes
• lifestyle articles
• career advice

Invadenola IS NOT (although there are some exceptions)

• generic - we don’t need every event in the city, only the most awesome
• political rants / grumblings
• non-New Orleans events

Payment Structure
Articles Published in the InvadeNOLA Printed books receive a negotiable payment.

Currently, we do not have a budget allocated to blog posts, but in many cases we negotiate payments to use blog posts in printed books.

Important Facts

• The editor may or may not publish your article.
• It must be your original work.
• The editor will edit your article. If you don’t feel comfortable with changes being made to your work, do not submit.
• We value honesty, openness, and creativity.

Conclusion
With a few minutes here and there you can make something that is shared with the New Orleans youth community. Its as simple as thinking about what really moves you right now: the bars you go to, the movies you watched on netflix, the internet memes that have caught your attention.
